Cotswold buff, golden flint, slate and granite shingle, laid over weed-suppressing membrane with solid edging. The fastest, most affordable way to transform a driveway — and naturally SuDS-compliant.
Most affordable surface. Stabilising grid adds ~£25/m².
Fastest install of any driveway surface. Often single-day on existing prepared bases.
Membrane and edging last 15+ years; top up shingle every 5–7 years.
Written workmanship guarantee.
Warm golden-yellow limestone chippings. Quintessential Oxfordshire look — perfect for country properties.
Pale amber and honey flint with subtle pink tones. Crisp, clean, low-key.
Bluestone-slate angular chippings. Cool tones that work beautifully against grey brickwork and modern homes.
Burgundy and deep purple slate. Bold, distinctive — a great match for traditional red-brick homes.

Pricing is fully installed in Oxfordshire and Berkshire. Lifespan assumes a properly engineered sub-base (150mm MOT Type 1 in 75mm lifts).

100–150mm dig depending on use and existing surface.
75–100mm MOT Type 1 fully compacted. Stops the shingle bedding into soft ground.
Heavy-duty woven weed membrane laid wall-to-wall with overlapped joints.
Brick, sleeper, kerb or steel edging — without it the shingle goes everywhere.
Honeycomb panels for sloped or heavily-used drives. Cuts migration to near zero.
40–50mm of angular shingle, raked level, with a slight top-up over the membrane.
Hidden steel edging is cheapest; railway sleepers, brick kerbs or granite setts add £20–£60/linear m.
Honeycomb panels add ~£25/m². Worth it for sloped drives, daily use, or wheelchair access.
Standard Cotswold buff at £40/m²; premium slates at £50/m². Custom or imported aggregates cost more.
If we're going over existing tarmac/concrete we may need to remove or scarify. If it's lawn or soil it's just dig out.
Shingle drains so well there's rarely additional drainage work. If sub-base is clay we may add a French drain.
Block-paved or brick borders are popular and add £30–£50/m. Visually transformative.
