Driveways across Bicester

Bicester (OX26) is the fastest-growing town in Oxfordshire — huge new-build developments at Kingsmere, Graven Hill and Bure Park have created thousands of homes with developer-spec driveways that are starting to need upgrading.

We've worked on plenty of these. Most Bicester clients want tarmac re-lay with a decorative block trim — the most cost-effective upgrade — or a full resin bound install for the contemporary new-build look. The older properties near the town centre and in surrounding villages typically prefer traditional block paving.

Outside Bicester proper we cover Caversfield, Bucknell, Launton, Ardley, Fritwell, Souldern, Steeple Aston and Middleton Stoney. The North Oxfordshire villages have very different character to Bicester town itself — more chocolate-box thatch and Cotswold stone.

Local quirks

• New-build re-lays — the most common job in Bicester. We strip the original thin tarmac, lay a proper 150mm Type 1 sub-base, and re-tarmac with a block trim. Adds about 15 years to the drive's life.
• Chalk subgrade — much of the area is on chalk, which drains well but can need geotextile to stop sub-base wash-out.
• RAF Bicester — properties near the old base have some unique covenant restrictions. Always worth checking your deeds before committing.
